Ferrari Daytona : The Last of the True Ferrari Dynasty

This was the last of the true Ferrari's that normal rich people can get. Now if you want a real race worthy Ferrari, you might only have two options. The now defunct Enzo and a replica works F1 Schumacher car.

The Ferrari Daytona had grand-daddies that were great racer, which included the 250 GT and GTO. These cars were real GT racers on a competitive level. I will not leave out the handsome genes from the 250 GT California(Think Ferris Bueller's Day Off car) The 60's racers provided a Front-Engine RWD V12 engine that raced successfully.

Now real-race worthy Ferrari's are out of touch for the rich, only the super uber rich can compete with Ferrari's.

T-Series Engine : Toyota Drag Racing Powerhouse

The Toyota T-Series engine is one of Toyota's powerhouse drag racing engines. In the USA this series engine came as the 3TC and the 2TC. Of course evberywhere else isn the world they got the Twin Cam engines or Twin Cam turbocharged models. Leave it up to American ingenuity to explore the possibilities of the 3TC and the 2TC American single cam Hemi engine.

The T-series motor is a robust iron block/head engine that has been used extinsively for drag racing all over the Americas. This includes those crazy Puerto Ricans that race while the eat/sleep/****. The American models came in the 1.6L and 1.8L version and have robust bottom ends that easily take a 150 shot of NOS.

This crazy example of the 3TC easily makes 700 horsepower.

If you do some gross approximations you can see that turbo is the size of a human giants head. Santos Racing has time slips of 10.05@136MPH to prove it too. Notice the stock ignition and the stock radiator. Pretty impressive.

How about "El Terror" this mean Corolla that runs a TurboCharged 1.8 3TC that runs an 8.40. Pretty insane for an engine that was made in 1970-1984. Trillville. Fo shiggles.

Word of advice if you see a loud old Corolla on the street, its probably a good idea not race for money.

Threeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees

This past weekend was the 7th Annual DUB Magazine Custom Auto Show in Los Angeles at the LA Convention Center. Aside from displaying some of the most beautiful automobiles on earth, the show was a festive homage to car enthusiasts of all ages, race, and gender. If you've been keeping your ears to the streets, you know that this show is highly anticipated every year and 2007 was no different as the show has been sold out for weeks. Different radio stations (KIIS-FM, Power 106, etc.) gave away tickets and were all on hand at the show.

We at TheTunerSource.com were on assignment/recreational visit at the DUB Custom Auto Show and here's a little recap of the event. Before even stepping into the Convention Center, there was a buzz of hundreds and hundreds of people in line outside with people in their custom cars revving and showing off on the streets. Almost everyone was there to see the array of cars, some for the women, and many for the performances. Scheduled to be on hand were Ludacris, Bone Thugs 'N Harmony, and Jim Jones (ballinnnnnnn!) and also there were celebrities who were known for their enthusiasm in cars, such as Arizona Cardinals' quarterback Matt Leinart, model Vida Guerra, and co-star of the new Kim Kardashian sex tape, Ray J. Aside from celebrities and artists, there were a breathtaking display of cars, notably the type of cars that'd cost a house, a year's salary, and probably my life...COMBINED! TheTunerSource.com was there with our mascot-turned-mini-celebrity who you will see in future photos that we took at the show (here's a hint to his identity: he's very spycey). Everywhere you turned, you saw dream cars: Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Bentleys, Rolls-Royces, with even "common" cars that were customized to a beaut. Want more? 2 or 3 of these cars combined in price will probably equal to an Enzo Ferrari, Mercedes SLR McLaren, or the US debuted Alpine Imprint RLS, which were all on hand at the show. Whatever the reason for being there, peoples' eyes were spoiled by the magnificence of technical, artistic, and mechanical workmanship through cars.

Stay tuned all week as we'll be providing different recollections of the weekend's events and also have a plethora of photos...and also, we'll be introducing you to a person that will be synonymous with TheTunerSource.com blogs ;)

One Reason Why the US BMW E36 M3 Makes It the Worst M3 Ever

The one reason why the US BMW E36 M3 is the worst M3 of all time is because of one letter "M." The US models of this track terrorizing machine came with one essential difference, the M50 motor instread of the European-Spec S50 motor.

The US model engine was really a reworked 328i motor with different tuning, the power output of this motor was 240 HP.

The European M3 motor was the S50, this motor had higher compression, more aggressive tuning, and individual throttle bodies. This came in the earlier 286 HP engines or the later 3.2L 321 HP engine.

Pretty much the US model M3 came with the slower, cleaner burning, fuel efficient 328 motor. Everywhere else in the world people got the S-series BMW race motors with ITB.

US can be boring sometimes.

Mercedes Benz Luxury Race Car

1968 Mercedez-Benz 300SEL 6.3

Designed by Paul Bracq, this Mercedes was the replacement for the higher end "fintail" designs.
What started off as a private venture by Erich Waxenberger, this car quickly became the world's first Super Saloon car.
By removing the engine from a Mercedez-Benz 600 and placing it into the S-Class model, a car was created that could challenge a Porsche 911.

With an air suspension and a 4-wheel ventilated disc brake system, this car was definitely ahead of its time.

"Carbon Fiber Pattern"

For all those who are learning to vector and want to add a little carbon-fiber texture to their piece; here's a quick tutorial on how to make a carbon fiber pattern. It's really f***in' easy, you can find this tutorial anywhere. Of course, you can find it here as well. The numbers for the tunersource.com carbon fiber is slightly different. Anyways who cares right? On with the tutorial.

Step 1.

Make a new document 4 x 4 px. Select the colors and fill as shown below.

Step 2.

Now that is done we can define the pattern. Go to 'Edit'; ;Then go to 'Select All'; Define pattern. Name your piece whatever you like. Don't be shy. I think you should call it "Carbon Fiber Pattern 01"

Step 3.

Now that you've made the pattern you can now select the area you wish to make carbon fiber and then go 'Edit'; 'Fill'; Slect'Carbon Fiber Pattern 01'; Hit 'Ok' again and Clack!! You have carbon fiber.

Here is a basic example of the pattern in effect.

...first the break light switch, now this...

Hello.

My friend Erik, who is an automobile savant (among other things), brought up an interesting and somewhat alarming observation-turned-research on the inconsistent nature and knowledge of automobile dealerships. He, being a Volkswagen owner, found a careless discrepancy between the dealership and the car manual on a very important feature of an automobile. I thought I'd post up his article on here because I feel that most car owners/buyers today are somewhat credulous to dealerships and/or cars so we should take some action into better informing ourselves on our cars for both safety and financial reasons.
