Toyota V8 manual transmission Conversions?

Many people are looking towards the 1UZ and 2UZ engines as good replacements in their performance Toyota cars in trucks these days. With the 3UZ engine coming from Toyota, which comes with 404HP stock, many people will be scouring the earth for rear-collision IS-F cars to take the motors. One drawback of the UZ series motors is that they have only come with automatic transmissions, which breaks many hearts in the performance Toyota community.

The crazy Aussies have come up with a great way to make a 5 speed manual transmission work with the UZ series motors, which will come very handy for those IS-F owners in 2008. Dellow Auto has created a bellhousing adapter that will relocate the starter on the transmission and an adapter for the R154 transmission splines with the UZ motor. Mind you finding a Supra Turbo R154 tranny is not an easy thing to find.

Here is a general list of things needed for the swap.

1. Bell housing & pivot ball $550
2. Pilot bearing $25
3. Clutch fork $75
4. Clutch plate $110
5. Pressure plate $135
6. Flywheel (made to customers specifications) $325
7. Flywheel bolt set (8-bolts) $25
8. Push rod (adjustable) $25
9. Slave cylinder (mounts passenger or driver side) $45
10. Speedo cable $75
11. Thrust race & carrier $75
10. R154 rear transmission mount $50

Here is a picture of a mold for a custom bellhousing for W/G transmissions for the UZ engines.

Many people are using the W58 gearbox because it it very abundant, strong, and has a good gear ratio when mated to the UZ engine.

So don't fret if you wanto convert your UZ engine over, do the research and be prepared to drop some serious cash.
