The Importance of Out-Sourcing Parts : Exotic Car Designers Making Their Lives Easier

Imagine designing and building a car. Even if you could draw the car on paper you would have to build a full size clay mold and then take that mold to make other molds to stamp steel or lay down carbon fiber. Its a tedious task and requires precision and artistic ability.

Exotic car companies are not heavily staffed like Toyota, BMW, or Dodge. So these companies have to rely on inventive ways of integrating components from other cars into their own vehicles. Designing a car could be "fun" but I'm sure the fun stops when you have to design a plastic inner fender well or a dome light.

Here are a few examples of Exotic Car Designs that use pieces of "ordinary" cars to help make Exotic Car Manufacturers lives easier.

The Lotus Esprit a great British Super Car using 1985 Toyota Corolla (AE86)Tail lights? WTF?

The beautiful Lamborghini Diablo using Nissan 300ZX Headlights, this is madness!

NO not the Mclaren F1 the most awesome car on the planet! Tis true, it shares the same block and engine components as the BMW 850 with the S70 motor.

So think twice when you like something that you see on that exotic car.
