Ever wonder where your gas money goes???

So you drive up and down, all over town, to find the cheapest gas. I do it, you do it, and unless your daddy gives you a gas card, we're going to do that for a long time.

But check it out, ever wonder what that 3 dollars pay for??? 3 dollars??? $3 if your lucky, and if you have any respectably fast car, your paying more than that right?

Well the other day I was wondering how much of my hard earned dollars makes its way into the pockets of people.

The US Dept. of Energy releases these reports every year and we can find out.



Wow, 64% of my $3 go to crude oil prices. That is a lot of money. And crude oil prices are only rising. They are quickly approaching the highest that gas has ever been, adjusted for inflation and everything! More than the gas prices of the 70's era, where they were rationing gas.

So in a nutshell, we're pretty much screwed. If crude oil prices continue to climb, then gas prices will only follow. I came up with an ideal solution, but was quickly shot down by others for being a dreamer. What if the government lowered the taxes for gas? At 14%, if you halved that, then we could save almost 21 cents a gallon. But hey, when was the last time the government did anything good to help us out???

Anyways, living in California, I guess I got to be kind of blessed, it could be much worse.

So all you supercharged guys out there, least I can control my boost and still get about 25 mpg! HAHAHA
