State Farm & Allstate insurance better get up on their game. Progressive Insurance NOW insures your pets! That's right, now you can insure your little Lassie and be worried free about him/her getting hurt in a car accident because your pet will be covered! There is no additional cost and there is a $500 compensation for if your pet were to get hurt or die in a car accident. What a deal! Every state is covered by this new plan except for North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York and Virginia, but the company hopes to offer it in those states soon.
In my opinion, this is an awesome marketing tactic! With pet sales reaching 40 billion annually, it makes perfect sense for Progressive to offer this benefit program. Pet owners always drive their pets to their veterinarians, dog parks/beaches, to other homes, etc. why not be insured while doing these things? A little perk like this will definitely, differentiate Progressive from the other car insurance companies. Who knows what they are going to come up with next!
